Driving. Soulful. Poised. These are just a few words that could be used to describe the 22 year old from Minneapolis Minnesota.  Swiftly rising the ranks since his first single on Liquid Brilliants in 2009, Kasper now boasts releases on some of the finest labels in Drum and Bass – and that’s not just a matter of opinion. 2013 was Anthony’s biggest year yet. The success of his Brooklyn Standard EP [Celsius Recordings] caught the attention and support of some of the biggest names, including: DJ Marky, Technimatic, Random Movement, Mr. Joseph, Dave Owen, Jaybee, LTJ Bukem, and more.

Kasper comes from a classical musical background. 8 years on the violin and 4 years on the piano gave him the theory and musical ear that he needed to step into his own as a producer. A hiphop head turned junglist, Anthony Kasper first discovered drum and bass in the mid-2000’s thanks to a random click on Bassdrive.com. It was a spotlight mix on Dave Owen by Stunna that inspired Anthony to try his hand at producing drum and bass. His production is also heavily influenced by jazz, funk, and the hiphop greats: Pete Rock, J Dilla, A Tribe Called Quest, and 9th Wonder. Even with all his recognition, Anthony says that he’s still a fan first and foremost. “I geek out every time I hear one of my tracks get played on the radio or when I get to meet the artists that influence me. It’s an honor most don’t get to experience. Call it youthful optimism, but what’s the point if things like that aren’t exciting and inspiring?” asks Anthony.

2014 looks to be a year of continued success for Kasper. He has plenty of new music and collaborations in the works as he continues to develop his sound and style.

DJ HYPE @ 15 Years Of Direct Drive – NYC September 20th 2013

(Playaz | UK)

Drum and bass legend DJ HYPE was an early DJ on one of London’s pirate stations, Fantasy FM, and has been popular on the international DJ circuit, landing awards for Best Male DJ and Best Radio DJ (in 1994 and 1995, respectively) at the U.K.’s Hardcore Awards. He is one of the London radio station Kiss 100’s main attractions, and was a player in Suburban Base’s compilation series, Drum and Bass Selection. A champion of jungle’s dancefloor purity, DJ Hype has also rallied consistently against jungle’s compartmentalization into artificial “scenes” in the late 1990s. DJ Hype began producing in 1989, engineering and co-producing tracks. It wasn’t until he launched his own Ganja label in 1994 (with the single “Cops”) that he began seriously focusing on the post-rave possibilities of sampled breaks. The Ganja label gained almost immediate popularity, primarily through floor-fillers such as “You Must Think First”, “Tiger Style” and DJ Zinc’s “Super Sharp Shooter.” That popularity peaked with the release of their first LP in 1996: ‘Still Smokin’, a label compilation released jointly by Ganja and cohort Pascal’s Frontline imprint. The album became one of the highest-selling independent jungle compilations. Re-released in 1997. DJ Hype is known for his jump up dj sets, headlining and smashing up dancefloors at the monthly Playaz night at Fabric (club).

JAYBEE (Good Looking | Mac 2) has joined DRIVEN AM!

DRIVEN AM is proud to announce the latest member of DRIVEN AM

(Good Looking | 36 Hertz | Mac 2 | Mars Music | Fizzy Beats | Stepping Forward | Florida)
Raised in Ct., now residing in Florida, Jaybee is definitely one to keep your eye on. With releases forthcoming on Liquid V alongside Random Movement, Good Looking, Mac II and a slew of other labels his music keeps going from strength to strength. Born to a radio DJ father he was raised listening to a wide range of music genres that led him to hip hop and later on, drum and bass. Always fascinated with watching the dj’s in hip hop videos, Jaybee obtained his first set of turntables at the age of 13 and started playing hip hop. A few years later he was intrigued by a friends “techno” compilation and wore out the hit the decks megamix series tape and found his love in breakbeats which led him to a outlaw Jungle party thrown by Digital Konfusion. It was at this event that Jaybee first discovered Jungle while witnessing DJ ODI double set ray Kieth’s “Terrorist”, discovering it was possible to incorporate hip hop skills into Jungle. Flash forward 15 years and you can find him djing a weekly show on bassdrive.com every Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. est. as well as doing A&R/running Stepping Forward Records (www.steppingforwardrecords.com) or in the studio working on whatever idea may roll through his head that day. His music has received support by the likes of Bryan Gee, DJ Storm, LTJ Bukem, DJ Randall, DJ Vapour, A-Sides, PFM, Trex, Physics, Random Movement, and DJ Bailey on Radio 1Xtra on his weekly Drum and Bass show.
